Artist in Residence at Haleco

A one-year program to support artistic creation rooted in sustainability, innovation and inclusion.

The Haleco Artistic Residency offers an artist a unique creative space in the heart of Montréal. Guided by the values of sustainability, innovation, and inclusion, the program offers an opportunity of mentorship with artist Marc Séguin and fosters meaningful connections with the community.

The residence

For one year, Haleco will provide a studio space within its commercial area. Applicants must demonstrate a strong artistic practice and a creative vision aligned with Haleco’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Artists are invited to propose a project — in any discipline — with complete freedom of subject and form, as long as it resonates with the ambitions of the project: to create a vibrant, inclusive place committed to socio-ecological transition. This resonance, whether thematic, material, social, or symbolic, will be the key criterion in evaluating applications.

In line with Haleco’s values, the selected artist is expected to build ties with the communities that interact with the project, whether by leaving a lasting contribution or through cultural mediation activities and sharing of their artistic process. The nature of this engagement is flexible: applicants are encouraged to outline how they wish to involve the community in their application.

Finally, the artist agrees that their image may be used in communications related to the project.
