Haleco’s Artist Residency provides an artist with a unique creative space in the heart of Montreal. Rooted in the values of sustainability, innovation and inclusion, the program encourages experimentation, creativity and meaningful connections with the community.

We are pleased to welcome Crissy Jarvis as Haleco’s new Artist in Residence.

Meet Crissy Jarvis

Montreal-based artist Crissy Jarvis is a photographer, designer, painter and multidisciplinary maker driven by a curiosity for the small things. Her practice is rooted in exploration, play and creating experiences that invite people to see, touch and feel things differently.

She creates interactive and sensory objects, including spinning discs, breath-powered shimmering installations, mirrors that explore emotion, and other works designed to encourage interaction.

Her work explores sensory joy, sensory regulation and neurodivergent-friendly design, themes that are also central to her current research.

Whenever possible, Crissy incorporates reclaimed materials into her practice, including found objects, offcuts, secondhand goods and materials sourced from liquidation stock.

Spanning photography, design, interactive installations and multidisciplinary experimentation, Crissy Jarvis’ work transforms simple gestures and objects into playful and unexpected sensory experiences.

Her projects include :

Plink Pong, a wall-mounted interactive work activated by movement.

CROMA, layered acrylic discs that create changing visual effects as they spin.

Exhaler, a kinetic piece that shimmers in response to breath.

Emotion Mirror, an interactive exploration of emotion and reflection.
